Cargo van, hydraulic lift system, 12’ × 7’ × 7’
One half of a cargo van is modified with a hydraulic lift system that allows it to tilt upright, reorienting the vehicle into a vertical, monolithic form. Familiar as a utilitarian object yet rendered uncanny in its new position, the sculpture shifts perception through a simple but dramatic change in orientation.
Designed for mobility, the work operates across multiple sites, inserting itself into both institutional and urban contexts. It has been exhibited at the Seattle Art Museum, the Whatcom Museum, and at various locations throughout Seattle, where it engages the surrounding environment as an extension of the piece.
